Macros and more :)
Hey Everyone!
Sorry that I have been slacking and haven’t posted for 2 weeks. Wish I had a good excuse, but honestly I just forgot to post and really had no idea what to write about. Anyway I still really don’t know what to write about, I think I am suffering from some writer’s block currently. Since I talked about macros earlier I think I am going to just explain them more here.
I said a few posts ago that ‘macros’ is short for macronutrients and that macronutrients are the carbohydrates, fats, and proteins that produce the calories in the foods we eat. Both carbohydrates and proteins produce 4 calories per gram of carb/protein in the foods you eat. So say that there are 10 grams of carbs and 5 grams of protein in something you are eating, that would equate to 60 calories because 40 calories would be carbs (4 cals/g*10g) and 20 calories would be proteins( 4cals/g*5g). Fats produce 9 calories per gram, so if you add 3 grams of fat to that food, the amount of calories overall becomes 87 calories, because 27 calories was added from the fat (9cals/g*3g). Calories are a unit of heat energy. So, the calories in food are the amount of energy we can get from these foods in order to go about functions of daily life and to get us through exercises or workouts.
Our bodies are pretty awesome because they are like the never ending chemistry experiment. Every moment our body is working to keep us alive and functioning properly through various chemical exchanges in our cells. That is why I find health/wellness/nutrition so amazing/interesting, because it is my way of giving back to my body for all the hard work it puts in to making sure I am at my best everyday that I am alive. How awesome is it to think that our bodies only purpose is to keep us alive, it cares about us that much. And I think there is no better way to show how much you appreciate that and love yourself than making sure you give your body the food, nutrients, exercise, and TLC it needs to do the work it does.
Thanks for reading and remember to love your body because it loves you!
