To Lift or Not to Lift?
The answer to that question is yes. There are many benefits that come from resistance training. The type of training you do depends on what you are looking to get out of the workout regimen you are doing. Are you looking to improve your mile time or are you looking to put on muscle mass and see some muscular definition? Endurance type athlete: Lifting weights is still something that should be done. The type of resistance training you do here should be muscular endurance t

Failure
Often when people hear the word failure the immediate thought is to the definition of “lack of success”, and to be honest I fall into this category. What we all forget is that failure also means “the action or state of not functioning”. This second definition is why I am writing this post. Today’s society puts so much emphasis on being “successful” that people feel inadequate and like “failures” for not meeting expectations laid out by societal norms, but what is success?

“An Investment in Knowledge Pays the Best Interest”
I am a super nerd, so I love learning. Whether it is through formal education, conversations with friends, picking up a new hobby, or enrolling in an online course. I have found that I have learned the most from talking to my friends about different topics, because it has allowed me to approach these topics with a new perspective. It is one thing to have knowledge, it is another to admit when you are wrong or less versed in an area than another person. Some of the smartes

Freshmen (Quarantine??) 15
So, this post started out as advice on how to make better food choices during your time at college, since it is often a difficult transition to go from being under the watch of your parents to making decisions on basically everything on your own. Now with the presence of COVID-19 and the new ‘normal’ (is anyone else as tired of hearing that phrase as I am?), I decided I would make this a two-for-one kind of thing. The concept is pretty similar between the two. Going off to

What COVID-19 Has Taught Me Expanded Edition
Some of you may have seen my short post from about a month ago about COVID-19 and things it taught me. When I posted that social distancing and school closures had just occurred, so it was pretty early on in this crazy “new normal”. Now fast forward from that post to today, almost an entire month has passed, and I still stand by the things I said in that post, but I now have a little more to say. I will repost below what I said in my previous post as a refresher for y’all a

You and your diet were on a break!!!
First off if you get the reference from my post title then I love you. Second, this is me explaining why calling it a cheat meal/cheat day kinda makes me roll my eyes. Before I get started I just want to say that I’m still working on removing that phrase from my own lexicon, so I indeed roll my eyes at myself and I don’t want you people to think I am attacking you all and being holier-than-thou. Now with that disclaimer out of the way let me explain. The more people in the

Life
Hello, hello, hello!! Haven’t posted anything in a while, but I am just sitting at a Starbucks(that I walked to from my lovely apartment) trying to do some school work but I keep finding myself drifting focus from my school work. I keep looking out the window and just thinking about life. I know I talk about finding what sets your soul on fire and determining your purpose in life, and honestly every time I think I have that figured out something changes. This is the one re

Mental Health Awareness Month
Hello all! In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month here is my post on looking out for your mental health. Like I always say, wellness is more than just working out and eating ‘healthy food’, it is about your mental health as well. I wrote a previous post about mental health, and some of the things I like to do to help keep me sane. So I will hyperlink that here for you all to check out again. But I will also list some things you can do for yourself and for those you car

Get Moving
Newton’s First Law of Motion says “Every object persists in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed on it”. Often this is heard stated as “An object at rest tends to stay at rest, and an object in motion tends to stay in motion”. While this is typically applied to physics and all that math and science associated with physics, this can be applied to exercise. It is so easy to turn your one day off

R&R
“Rest is for the weak” and “No days off” are just two examples of some things you may hear from your fitness fanatic friends or your rat-racing buddies. We unfortunately live in a society of go, go, go, and always trying to do more than the next person or not stopping until we reach our goal, only to decide we have another goal once we get there. We are constantly moving and doing and we are not taking a chance to stop and enjoy where we are. I want to keep this more geare

Life Lessons
My undergraduate years have come to an end. I am sad and still in disbelief that I have finished 4 years of college already. I have learned many things during my time in undergrad, both in and out of the classroom. So instead of boring you all with the academic things I have learned over 4 years I have decided to share some of the life lessons I have learned. It is okay to not know what you are doing with your life It is unfair to place that kind of stress on yourself upon

To be or not to be average
This post is a somewhat spin off of my One Year post. We have all been placed here for a purpose, and life’s greatest quest is finding that purpose. I had a conversation the other day with a friend about how to live life and the word average came up. That lead to the discussion of whether or not going through life as average was the way to go, which lead to the argument of if anyone besides your family and close friends will remember you after you die. My stance on that ar

One Year
It has been a WHILE since I posted something here. Life gets busy and I had nothing interesting to say…until today that is 😉 I decided to open up my little blog site today and there was a notification waiting for me when I logged on. The notification said “happy one year anniversary”. Isn’t that so crazy?? Of all of the days that I could have gotten a whim to login to this blog, and it was the one year anniversary of me creating this blog! The crazy thing is I opened it

Dear Soccer
Dear Soccer, I really don’t know where to start. You have been so much a part of my life and who I am for so long. My parents knew you would be a major piece in my life when, at the age of 2, I asked my dad to go outside with me and play soccer. I barely even knew what soccer was, but somehow I knew that soccer is what I wanted. Soccer was my first love, but no love is easy. Somewhere along the journey I let soccer become less of my happiness and more of chore. There was

It has been a minute
It has been a minute since I’ve posted here!! I really didn’t have anything to share with you all, and nothing really motivated me to sit down and write. But now I am back and ready to share some thoughts with you lovely people. So my senior year of college started August 21 and I can now share with you all how I feel about being a senior. Let me start by saying that I still refuse to accept that this is actually happening; it doesn’t seem real that I am a senior. I reall

Pinterest Strikes Again
As usual I was scrolling through Pinterest and came across this image below. This couldn’t have popped into my life at a better time. In 4 days my senior year of college will start as it is the first day of preseason of my last season of soccer ever. So that alone is a pretty big change that I have to prepare myself to embrace. Along with that change looming over my head I got dinner with my teammates that graduated this May and they are all doing amazing things with their

CrossFit pt.2
Okay, so I can’t share with you all anything about the test, but I can tell you about how awesome my weekend at the CF L2 course was. Just to let you guys know, I am super shy and I almost didn’t want to go to the course because I knew before going there I would have to coach in front of people I didn’t know and that is COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone. So that was my emotional/mental state entering into the weekend. I was forced to step WAY outside of my comfort zone and ho

CrossFit
So this Saturday is a pretty exciting one because I am at Reebok CrossFit One in Boston, Massachusetts for the CrossFit Level 2 certificate course. Almost 5 years ago I was sitting in the exact place completing the Level 1 certificate course. I was the youngest one there. I started doing CrossFit when I was in 8th grade(about 7 years ago) and I fell in love with it. It took less than a year of doing CrossFit for me to decide that one day I was going to open my own CrossFit af
